Controversial YVR jet fuel pipeline heading to Richmond council

Global News

A controversial pipeline that would transport jet fuel to the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is one step closer to construction.

The proposed line would run from the south arm of the Fraser River across the city to the airport on Sea Island. The finished project would include a marine terminal on the Fraser, 15 kilometres of pipeline and a tank farm with six tanks and a capacity of 80 million litres.

A number of those tanks are already under construction or in place.

Richmond Mayor Malcolm Brodie told Global News that the city is expecting the consortium of airlines backing the project to bring applications for three key pieces of paperwork to municipal lawmakers soon.

City and Onni shake hands on rezoning Steveston waterfront

Richmond News

The saga of rezoning Steveston’s paved, waterfront boardwalk at Imperial Landing has drawn to a close.

In the near future, instead of walking by empty buildings, one may see the likes of a bank, grocery store, offices, a café and a hotel.

… [A]t Monday’s public hearing, the two sides settled on $5.5 million, the same amount of “land lift” determined appropriate by the late, land use economist Richard Wozny in his report to council.

“We got 100 per cent of the lift,” said Mayor Malcolm Brodie who emphasized timing was of the essence.

“I think the city held its ground and pushed this matter as far as reasonably could be done,” he said. …

Metro Vancouver looks to sign $2.6-million property management contract

Vancouver Sun

Metro Vancouver’s board will consider on Friday whether to award a $2.6-million three-year property-management contract for its new head office.

The regional district moved into its new building, located in Burnaby’s Metrotower III a few blocks from their old head offices, in January.

Metro purchased the building from Invanhoe Cambridge for $205 million in late 2015, and that company has managed the building ever since. The property-management contract was worth $2.95 million over three years. After selling Metrotowers I and II, Ivanhoe Cambridge approached Metro about terminating the Metrotower III property management agreement. …

After an evaluation by a staff committee, Colliers was ranked the highest because its proposal “contains additional value added items, a larger building presence, a stronger back office team and local resources that will enable Metro Vancouver to decrease overall costs through the long term transfer of internal property management tasks to our provider.” …

The report did not outline how much Metro would be able to save, something finance and intergovernmental committee member Malcolm Brodie said at a meeting last week should be specified.
