Richmond city council has rescinded a cleanup order on a property in the South Arm area after bylaw officers found it to be “in full compliance” on Monday.

The order to clean up the “unslightly” property on Severn Drive was made last winter after bylaw officers found shipping containers, wooden pallets, household items, derelict vehicles and other items on the property. …

“Hopefully, we won’t get into this situation again,” Richmond Mayor Malcolm Brodie commented at the end of the meeting. …

Metro Vancouver has completed the excavation of a tunnel at the Second Narrows Water Supply Tunnel, an infrastructure project that was started in order to make the region’s drinking water more earthquake resilient, using a state-of-the-art boring machine. …

Richmond property given another two weeks for clean up

Richmond city council has voted to give a resident in the South Arm area another two weeks to clean up their residential property, which has been the subject of complaints for over a decade.

City staff asked council to uphold an order to clean up the Severn Drive property under the “unsightly premises” bylaw, which is currently being appealed by the owner’s son. …

At the meeting, Mayor Malcolm Brodie said the “last thing” he wants to do is “put this thing off for one more minute,” noting it’s the third time council has dealt with the item.

While he supported adjourning the item for two weeks so Wong could deal with the vehicles and pallets, Brodie told Wong that the work “needs to be done, and, frankly, no more excuses.” …
